Unforgettable landscapes, once-in-a-lifetime hikes, a marine wildlife tour, visits to glaciers and mountain streams, and time to bond with others who enjoy the natural world as much as you do! Spend nights tent camping in some of the most gorgeous regions of the world and spend days traveling to various locations learning about the unique ecosystems and wildlife within.

Expedition Overview

What to Expect

There are not “typical” days in Alaska. That being said, here’s an example of what you can expect… Each day will be unique and since we will be exploring a wide variety of unique environments throughout this giant state. The travel will be well worth it as each day will bring a new place to explore and experience. Participants must be willing to be flexible as plans can change due to unforeseen circumstances such as weather and local availabilities. Below is a sample itinerary, subject to change.
August 10: Guests usually fly into town the day before, so they’re ready to go on August 12th. Hotel accommodations and local transportation for this are the responsibility of the participant. There are multiple hotel options with a free shuttle service from the airport!
August 11: Trip officially begins in Anchorage at 8am! We’ll pick you up from where you were staying and begin our adventures! Our first stop will be a group breakfast included as part of your trip fee. Then We visit downtown Anchorage, obtain any last minute supplies at a grocery and a potential stop at REI in case anyone left something at home!
August 12: Head to Gold Mint Trail near Independence Mine, then travel to Talkeetna for an introduction to Alaska overnight.
August 13: Head north in the morning where we may view Denali Mountain and enjoy a piece of local blueberry pie. Visit Mt. Healy, set up camp and take an evening animal safari in Denali National Park.
August 14: Explore Denali National Park by bus. Dinner at 49th State Brewery.
August 15: Lunch on the Denali Highway, and stay in a blueberry patch on Porcupine Hill with 360 views of mountains. Head south towards Anchorage area for the evening. View Matanuska Glacier, restock supplies, travel along the majestic Cook Inlet and venture into the town of Hope. Hangout in one of the earliest gold rush towns in Alaska!
August 16: Depart Hope, drive to Seward where we will take the Resurrection Bay marine wildlife tour visit IRBI Knives Bladesmith Virgil. Visit Exit Glacier.
August 17: Watch eagles while viewing Mount Redoubt (active volcano), travel to Homer (halibut capital of the world) and the Salty Dog Saloon, scope for bears on the Russian and Kenai Rivers.
August 18: Visit the AK Wildlife Conservation Center, return to Anchorage and do some great sightseeing downtown. Participants will be dropped off at the airport or local accommodations by 4:00pm. Departure flight from airport should be no earlier than 6:00pm.

Travel

Guests should plan to arrive at the Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport on August 10th and plan on taking their hotel shuttle to the local hotel for the first night’s stay (Participants are responsible for hotel accommodations on or before the 11th. Earth Spirit staff will coordinate picking up all participants from their hotel by 8:00am on August 11th. All local travel throughout the trip will be in a large van(s) driven by the trip leaders. Departure flights from Alaska will be after 8pm on August 18th. Should participants wish to stay beyond that date, hotel accommodations and transportation will be their responsibility.

Transportation to and from Alaska is not included in the cost of the trip, nor are flights arranged by Earth Spirit. Please do not make any travel arrangements until contacting Russ. 

Accommodations

Participants will be tent camping in some of the most beautiful locations in the world. Some campsites will be “front-country” sites, while others will be a bit more remote. All campsites will be within walking distance of vehicles. Double occupancy tents will be provided. All other gear will be the responsibility of the participant.

Food

All backcountry meals will be provided and prepared by Earth Spirit staff. Meals in town, while limited, as well as incidentals will not be covered. All group cooking gear will also be provided.

Please make any food allergies known when submitting your required health form for the trip.

Costs

  • $2,295.00 per person
  • Registration is limited to 12 participants.
  • Registration minimum is 5 participants.

Registration

To reserve your place on this trip:

  • A $1,100.00 deposit is due by 02/01/2027
  • The remaining balance is due by 05/01/2027
  • Once minimum registration is reached, the trip is a "go" and deposit(s) are not refundable
