“You never know ahead of time what something’s really going to be like.”
– Katherine Paterson, Bridge to Terabithia
This has certainly rung true for us all as the globe has been dealing with the reality of an unprecedented pandemic and resulting economic woes and shifts in daily life. The pandemic has impacted each and every one of us in one way or another and Earth Spirit has not been spared.
We at Earth Spirit have been patiently waiting, quietly working, and constantly hoping for positive changes to take place so that we could resume programming for schools and the general public and continue the important work that we have been doing for 40 years. Our dedicated Co-Directors, staff, and Board of Directors have not been complacent as the days have passed; however, we must continue to be patient. Like some of the wild creatures around us, as of October, Earth Spirit will be entering a state of hibernation. This means that we have made the incredibly tough decision to reduce our staff, cut our expenses, and not pursue new programming for the time being as the current situation is still too uncertain. We do still plan on offering excursion-based programming, including our upcoming December Yellowstone trip and others and hope to begin public programming after the New Year.
As we look toward the future, we trust that we can continue our good work. We sincerely thank those who have helped and supported us over the past 40 years and we hope that you all continue to stay in touch and support us through these coming months and beyond.
With love and positivity,
The Earth Spirit Family
